Stand-up comedy special Esther Povitsky: Hot for My Name premieres tonight, June 5, at 10 p.m. ET/PT on Comedy Central, and it will also be available to stream on FuboTV and Philo.
Esther Povitsky is new to the stand-up comedy stage, but she isn’t new to comedy. She was the co-creator and star of Alone Together, a comedy series focusing on the lives of two millennials living in Los Angeles. Esther also stars as Izzy on the Hulu show Dollface, along with co-stars Kat Dennings, Brenda Song and Shay Mitchell.
Esther hits the stage in Esther Povitsky: Hot for My Name as she explains how her parents raised her to be the mess that she is – an origin story interlaced with documentary footage and hilarious stand-up.
She’s performing from her hometown of Skokie, Ill, where her relationship with her parents was the original spark for her to become a comedian. Comedy Central says that Esther will also be exploring deep existential questions, such as why she’s like a slice of pizza in the bedroom, or why her ex-boyfriend’s wife blocked her on Facebook.
